ABOUT US
• La Fédération acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse ( FANE ) is the oldest provincial association serving the Acadian community of this province. Incorporated on October 14th, 1968 the Acadian Federation represents the interests of all Nova Scotia Acadians and French-speaking citizens.
• Faithful to its mandate as a community organization, it is structured to ensure the full participation of the community in its planning and management activities.
• Today’s Fédération acadienne is a true federation. It brings together 26 member organizations that meet regularly as the Conseil provincial des membres (CPM) or Provincial Members Council of the Acadian Federation. The members advise their provincial federation on the goals and priorities of the Acadian community.
•The Provincial Members Council represents the broad interests of the Acadian community of Nova Scotia. Be it regional, sectional or educational interests, the CPM reaches all levels of Acadian society throughout the province. All the members of the CPM have their own electoral process and are fully constituted entities under the Societies Act of Nova Scotia.
• The Fédération acadienne also brings additional partners together on a yearly basis to update the Acadian community’s five year Strategic Development Plan. (2004-2009)
• An executive council composed of various members of the CPM guides the activities of the Executive Director of the Fédération .
•The Fédération acadienne’s principal roles are: offering support to its member associations and the broader Acadian community, representing and lobbying on behalf of its members, facilitating community dialogue and consultation, communications, research and development.
